Today we're looking at how you can create various sized circles out of LEGO! We're fortunate to have a few round pieces that create perfect circles covering 1x1, 2x2, 4x4 and 8x8 areas, but anything in between or larger requires more pieces.
There are various ways to create these circles such as brick bending which we've discussed in previous posts but today we're looking at those that use Studs Not On top bricks and slopes. A pretty good circle can be created for a 6x6 area with SNOT bricks and 1x4 arch slopes, and from there you can see from the pictures it starts getting more complicated. Eventually, hinges must be used to angle slopes against one another to try and create smooth curves.
When possible, you should try and just use round pieces to create perfect circles, but bear in mind the technique of using SNOT bricks and slopes for wherever you need a specific size circle for your spaceship engines, medieval towers or other round shapes!
What techniques and parts do you use for creating circles? Let us know in the comments!
