Today marks Juneteenth, a national US holiday that is also celebrated worldwide. It commemorates June 19th, 1865, the date in which enslaved African Americans in Texas were told they were free.
In this post we share the history behind the holiday and a build dedicated to it by our
contributor Barbara (that is currently on display at Brickworld Chicago!).
We hope you learn something about Juneteenth that you didn’t know before from this post and if you're keen to see more information then head to www.bricktothepast.com for some excellent articles and historical builds.
