#2351 SET UPGRADES: Coruscant Guard Gunship Improvements

Want to give your gunship set some little glow ups? Then join us as we highlight some improvement options. An image of the Coruscant Guard Gunship set that changes from the original set to the modded version.

With enough parts one of the easiest fixes is possible: Switching the colours to be more accurate to the source material. Recolouring the nose area works especially great Here a quick comparison between the ship and the set. The set often uses light bluish grey instead of white. The second cockpit windscreen also looks different in the original version and the stud shooters on the wings also don’t match with the series model.

The next fix is to build a custom windscreen for the second pilot since it’s actually different to the windscreen of the first pilot. Here a breakdown of a custom build of the second windscreen is shown, some of the more noteworthy pieces used are the bracket piece 44728, the modified brick 52107, the modified plate 4623 and the window 6362.

On the top of the gunship there is two possible fixes: One is to add the Rocket belt, which uses the clip piece 15712 and the bar 78258 and the other one is to add the double-coloured thrusters to the gunship using the sloped pieces 6091 and 37352. Switching two plates on each of the wings from white to dark red also really helps the wings to look more coherent.

Another Area to give your gunship a touch-up is the bubble turrets on the wings. For the top part of the bubble turret, we used this part, 86500, which appeared in 9 sets, 3 of which were another cool Clone Wars vehicle the Y-wing! Moving the location of the bubble one stud up is also suggested.

The double doors were the most wanted inclusion for the build and thankfully they are pretty easy to implement! The bigger door gets two hinges, which have a radius of 4 axle holes to swing open. The smaller door just gets one hinge but locks well together with the other door.

Here you can see that even with splitting the door the pattern can stay the same as in the set and the doors close perfectly without a gap. Here you can see the attachment points of the hinges on the inside of the doors.

This set was the first time Commander Fox in his phase 2 armor was featured! While we can’t change some of the colour changes on the armor, here are some tips on how to give him a little glow up: Give him a real Kama 74664 Another option is to include a black visor 61190.
