#2421 MOC OF THE WEEK: Trixie Mattel by BRICK 101

To celebrate Pride Month, we wanted to showcase builds that represent superheroes from the queer community - drag performers! Trixie Mattel is one of the most famous drag queens in the world, and BRICK 101 on Flickr makes an incredible Brickheadz-style MOC that captures all of her signature features. We also highlight @brickqueensyvr who creates fabulous custom minifigures of our favorite drag performers. Happy Pride!

About Trixie Mattel. Trixie Mattel is a world-famous drag queen, most known for her extravagant makeup and for winning Season 3 of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars. BRICK 101 even made a modification to his Trixie build that gives her a coronation crown and scepter! The bow in her hair is replaced by a silver crown made by 1 by 1 cones.

This slide dives into the build, specifically Trixie’s hair and makeup. BRICK 101 angles retired part 2452, the 1 by 2 plate with 3 hinges, on a stud to mirror Trixie’s signature big eyelashes and eye makeup. Dark pink slopes make for intense blush! Another retired part 33291, the 1 by 1 flower with four petals, in magenta replicates Trixie’s dramatic drawn-on lips. There are retired parts galore! Part 4744, 4 by 4 by 2 double slope, is hidden among the hair.

Now onto the dress! Part 24201, the inverted slope, does not come in dark pink, so BRICK 101 uses an illegal technique instead that involves putting half technic pins into the bottom of studs. This allows the regular 1 by 2 slope to fit into the bottom of the studs. More retired part 33291 appears, this time in dark pink, creates the ruffles in Trixie’s dress.

In the spirit of drag, we also must feature @brickqueensyvr who makes fantastic replicas of drag performers using all authentic LEGO parts! Some of our favorite drag queens included are Landon Cider, Sasha Colby, Jessica Wild, Black Peppa, and Sapphira Cristal!

@brickqueensyvr also made Trixie Mattel, of course, this time joined by iconic country singer Orville Peck. Follow them for a breakdown of all of their custom minifigures! And follow BRICK 101 on Instagram @brick.101 and on their Youtube andFlickr!
