Number 2475 TECHNIQUE ANALYSIS: Pokémon Card by @legomichiiiiii. This is a classic Japanese Pokémon card with a gradient background, an open Pokéball, plus another side featuring Chikorita on a rocky grassy ground. Objects from Pokémon, like the Pokédex, pop out from the side of the build. You wanna be the very best, like no one ever was? Then read through the incredible techniques used to achieve this 3-dimensional Pokémon card, built front and back out of LEGO! Thank you @legomichiiiiii for supplying us with BTS photos. Swipe for all of the techniques.

As an introduction, @legomichiiiiii beautifully replicates the iconic Pokémon card- front and back! This MOC uses many different techniques we will highlight today – gradients, lettering, rockwork, and minibuilds!

Starting with the Pokémon letters themselves, Ball joints attach and angle the blocky letters! Floatation rings act as the O’s.

Turning to the back of the card, Chikorita proudly stands on a gorgeous diorama. Layered 1x1 and 1x2 plates in 5 blue hues create a mottled sky. The rockwork, which we will detail on the next slide, features mushroom hats for mushrooms from the Mushroom person CMF, and layered swordleaf pieces in green and bright green for tall grass.

Detailing the rockwork, varying wedges and slopes are attached to hinge cylinders, part 30554a, to angle the rocks. Rocky wedge/slope parts include 47753, 43712, and 41764. Ball joints stick out to attach and angle the grass. Technic bricks lock everything in place.

Every detail is accounted for, including the top of the card which features sausages and guns in its Japanese lettering for Chikorita! Bionicle spotted! Lewa’s mask is brilliant NPU for the grass type symbol.

The microbuilds in this MOC are just as cool as the main build! The Master Ball is a standout for cleverly sandwiching a complex internal structure of clips and bars within two 4x4 cylinder hemispheres, part 86500.

To close off this analysis, check out the other minibuilds, including the Pokédex, potion, and rare candy. We especially love how the Potion is built – BTS pics below feature another 4x4 cylinder sphere element for its base!
