#615 TIPS: Storing your LEGO collection

Today we're discussing the ways you can store your LEGO part collection. We'd advise checking out our post on sorting and organising your parts first: https://www.tipsandbricks.co.uk/home/580-tips-how-to-organise-your-lego-collection

So storing your LEGO collection; how should you go about it? The most common method is using shelves or trays. You can buy these storage cabinets with a variety of shelf sizes from most major retailers and they're great because you can sort by colour or type directly into the small trays. These trays should preferably be wide and shallow, so you can easily find the pieces you're looking for.

However, if you've got heaps of a certain piece or colour, it doesn't make sense to store it this way. You can just use a storage bin or box, as not every part needs to be specifically sorted, such as regular bricks. This will save you money as although storage cabinets with trays are very useful and a great way to organise, it can get expensive if all your parts are stored there.

It's also a good idea to accurately label the trays or bins so you can find the pieces easily. If possible, purchase storage containers where the trays are easy to remove, so you can select only the ones you need and detach them from the cabinet.
