Happy Pride Month! Today we discuss the A in LGBTQIA+. Even within the LGBTQIA+ community, Asexual and Aromantic identities are often overlooked

This post aims to share information on these communities and builds that celebrate Asexual and Aromantic people.

#2411 DISCUSSION: Celebrating the Asexual/Aromantic Plus Community. Even within the LGBTQIA+ community, Asexual and Aromantic identities are often overlooked. In today’s post, we’re going to be educating about these communities and sharing builds that celebrate Asexual and Aromantic people.

Why is this important? The LEGO community is diverse, and we believe the way to help everyone feel they can belong is to celebrate and educate about those who are often excluded and ignored. Being a relatively small demographic, knowledge of this community is not widespread.

Identities in the “A plus” What does it mean to be Asexual? (Source: Asexuality.org) Asexual, or “Ace”, people do not feel sexual attraction to others. They can still feel romantic attraction. (Source: Aromanticism.org) Aromantic, or “Aro”, people do not feel romantic attraction to others. They can still feel sexual attraction. People in the Aromantic and Asexual communities often find support and intimacy in their lives through close friendships rather than from a romantic/sexual partner. What is being Demisexual or Demiromantic? Demisexual (see right) and Demiromantic (see left) people only feel sexual or romantic attraction to people they have a close emotional connection to. These labels have come about more recently as more people with these shared experiences have found community with one another on the internet and as society has become more accepting.

MOCs Because of the abbreviation “Ace”, many Asexual people use playing card Aces as a symbol for themselves. Chris Blakely on Flickr makes use of the printed 1 x 2 tile from the CMF Jester! Image of Everyone is Awesome people but the set has stripes of the Asexual colours and the figures of the Asexual colours are dancing. One of them is holding the Ace of Spades printed 1 x 2 tile. @shanzy_h is Aromantic, so marked the occasion of Valentine’s from her perspective with a series of habitats, the last one being about 15th April, the unofficial “Singles’ Day”, or “Half-price Chocolate Day”! Monopoly on TTV Message Boards uses an assortment of Bionicle and Hero Factory parts to make these additions to her Pride Bat collection. Part 99021 then fits into a waist hole with a technic axle pin to attach each wing. Part 99021 is Pneumatic hose connector with axle connector. Lemonade’s hands are upside-down feet, with the heel axle holes used to attach her wings!
