#521 TECHNIQUES: Explosion techniques

Today's post will feature 2 techniques that you can use for your spaceship or battle scene MOCs to create realistic explosions.

The first technique is by Zach on Flickr, where he builds on all sides to create a three-dimensional engine propulsion. This is achieved with colours ranging from white to trans-red, and finished off with dark orange slopes showing the dust being blown below the ship. The second is by Didier Burtin on Flickr, who uses flame pieces as well as 2x2 dishes in various colours. These dishes perfectly recreate the smoke left behind by the explosion, and are positioned using SNOT bricks with studs on all sides.
